Mission: Plentiful Pintails
Representatives from interested organizations formed the Pintail
Action Group (PAG) in August 2003. Endorsed by the North American
Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP) Committee, the group operates under and
reports to the plan committee's Science Support Team. The Pintail Action
Group includes scientific community members from multiple organizations,
including Ducks Unlimited Canada and Mexico, Ducks Unlimited, the U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service, U.S. Geological Survey, Canadian Wildlife Service, California Waterfowl
Association, California Fish and Game, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and other public agencies, private organizations and joint
ventures.
The Pintail Action Group's mission is to advocate and support planning, coordination and evaluation of Northern Pintail management and research actions among the NAWMP joint ventures, flyways, government agencies and other organizations. The group's conception, mission, objectives and the pintail situation is further described in the document, "Northern Pintail: Prospectus for an Action Group" (PDF 201KB). The group has identified several objectives:
Participation in the Pintail Action Group is open to any organization committed to implementing the group's objectives. PAG representatives meet once each year.
